What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Blue Hat, Green Hat - Boynton is an interactive adaptation of Sandra Boynton's board book of the same name. Like the original book, the story is short, but although the app doesn't add new pages, it does offer a lot of new content in the form of funny animations. Kids can touch and tap pretty much every illustration in the book and start it moving in some adorably silly way. Text is highlighted as it is spoken by the narrator, which makes it easier for new readers to follow along.

Is It Any Good?
This lovely and very funny adaptation of BLUE HAT, GREEN HAT takes an already great classic of silly kid-lit and makes it better. The book introduces kids to a quartet of animals who don different colored articles of clothing on each page -- but the goofy turkey never seems to get it right. The repeated "Oops" at the end of every page is a great way to get toddlers involved in the story. The app adds humorous "oops" animations that turn the turkey into an even sillier character (though it also adds a wardrobe scene in which kids can dress the turkey properly if they want and give it a little class). This app gets the tone and spirit of the Sandra Boynton book absolutely right.
