What's It About?
Characters from Adventure Time to Steven Universe duke it out on a 3D soccer field in CARTOON NETWORK SUPERSTAR SOCCER: GOAL!!! - MULTIPLAYER SPORTS GAME STARRING YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS. To begin, users select an avatar name and choose their favorite Cartoon Network character to lead their team. Within the game, users slide up, down, left, and right to move their character, and they tap several buttons to select moves such as slide tackling, passing the ball, and shooting goals. After a series of "training" rounds to learn the controls and the game's strategy, the gameplay gets tougher and users can continue to play against the "computer" or play anonymously against another online user.
Is It Any Good?
While the graphics get a worthy update, the controls are still pretty unwieldy, and the soccer gameplay isn't especially exciting. Kids may certainly find it amusing to pit familiar characters against each other in Cartoon Network Superstar Soccer: Goal!!! - Multiplayer Sports Game Starring Your Favorite Characters, but there's otherwise not much to it. It's pretty inconsequential to ignore the instructions during the training rounds; in general, it's easy to just shoot goals endlessly and continue to rack up a score while computer-generated team flails. Online opponents have greater potential as challengers, but the game isn't especially hard or rewarding, so it's not clear that kids would stick with it once the initial novelty of the characters wears off.
