What’s It About?
Once teens launch CHIPPER: COLLEGE DAILY PLANNER, they'll walk through a quick introduction of the app and its features. When registering, teens will input their email, create a password, choose whether they are in high school, college, or grad-school, graduation year, and the name of their institution. A tutorial on adding courses and tasks appears as a task to complete. A guiding red dot shows users how to navigate the app and its core functions.
Teens can add school, life, and work tasks and can further organize their time by adding subtasks that will help them make progress towards completion. They can also schedule timed study sessions. In order to motivate users and promote productive habits, the app incorporates challenges, recognizing teens for completing tasks, attending class consistently, and studying. It also uses data from academic research to predict how much each task on users' schedules is worth, crediting them with earnings when tasks are completed. The earnings aren't real, but are intended to show teens their earning potential. The app also offers personalized coaching, which includes specific guidance and feedback to help users reach their college admissions or career goals. Coaching takes place through the app in chat format. Personalized coaching requires in-app subscription.
Is It Any Good?
This tool is ideal for teens and college students looking to maximize their time, plan their month, week, or day, and track important tasks or events. For greater organization, Chipper: College Daily Planner allows users to schedule tasks under specific categories, color code courses, and import Google Calendar events. It compiles school, work, and life tasks, creating one space where users can keep track of all important reminders. Subtasks and the study timer make this app stand out. Teens can defy procrastination using the subtask feature, which will help them plan out how to work on bigger projects or tasks across time.
The study timer is ideal for carving out time to prepare for exams or to complete assignments. Push notifications, reminders, and daily schedule emails ensure users are on top of all planned tasks and events so nothing slips through the cracks. Progress monitoring creates awareness around productivity habits. Are you completing scheduled tasks? How much time do you spend studying? Do you attend scheduled events and classes? Challenges and Earnings motivate and promote productive habits. The idea of Earnings is quite unique. There's no way to know how accurate the monetary value is, but teens may find it interesting to see how their current actions and habits may impact their future earning potential. Overall, this user-friendly app does an outstanding job streamlining organization and scheduling.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about prioritizing tasks and time management when using Chipper: College Daily Planner. Since teens will be able to see all scheduled daily tasks, it's important for families to discuss how to identify priority items, or tasks that carry greater weight or embody greater urgency.
Reflect on tasks and their categories. Is there balance amongst school, work, and life tasks? Is one category consuming more time than all others? What's the impact on overall wellbeing? Discuss ideas to help build balance, manage stress, and promote healthy work/life habits.
