Did we miss something on diversity?
Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.

What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Color & Draw for kids HD is far more than just an app version of simple, traditional coloring books. This coloring and sketching app gives kids dozens of coloring pages, backgrounds, vibrant colors, brushes, and other options to choose from. Users can also create their own drawings, draw over photos taken with the device's camera, and practice letter and numbers with onscreen lined paper. There are in-app purchases ($.99) to buy more themed pages, stickers, and backgrounds; you can turn this option off in the app's settings. Also, kids can choose drawings to just color finished pictures or complete incomplete drawings. Parents may want to explain to kids their family's rules about sharing their drawings via email or the app's Flickr page.

What’s It About?
COLOR AND DRAW FOR KIDS HD has so many options -- from brush sizes and colors to different topics for the drawing and coloring sheets -- that most kids will find something to spark their creative flame on this app. The drawing primer includes a voice instructor to help kids learn how to draw things like animals. The coloring portion is completely creative so kids can choose their own unique way to finish each page.
Is It Any Good?
Color & Draw for kids is overflowing with different coloring and drawing pages, choices, and activities. The "professional grade" drawing engine lives up to the name. Kids (and adults) using the app can get really specific and detailed; there's even an in-app purchase that provides coloring packs to color detailed mandalas. It's a good thing there's a voice instructor for younger kids or first-time users because all the choices can be a bit overwhelming. The app would be even better if the saving and sharing options -- including emailing and sharing via its Flickr page -- included some safety guidelines for kids and parents.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
If your kid has a particular interest, such as fairies or dinosaurs, consider making the in-app purchase to buy those extra page packs.
Encourage your child to name and make up stories about the images they draw and color in Color & Draw for kids.
