It's great to see a rich collection of strong story-based content make a clear effort to emphasize diversity. Encantos - Play, Learn, Grow relies on storytelling to teach valuable lessons ranging from mindfulness and emotional regulation to problem solving and math. Some videos and stories -- such as the Tiny Travelers collection -- are purposeful in highlighting different cultures and creating a global understanding. But the majority of content focuses on general early learning themes that also happen to feature varied voices and characters -- and do so in two languages. Overall the quality of the graphics, storytelling, and educational content is high. Encantos - Play, Learn, Grow isn't as strong, however, in its collection of interactive games, which makes the app mostly a library of content to passively consume. It should also be noted that although the target audience is young, the stories don't have a read-to-me option. So, pre-readers will have trouble engaging with all the content on their own.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the lessons in Encantos - Play, Learn, Grow. After reading a story or watching a video, ask kids what they learned.

  • Listen to songs in both English and Spanish. English-Spanish bilingual families can enjoy hearing classic favorites in both their languages and contract and compare where some words may have been changed to fit the song. Non English-Spanish bilingual families can listen closely to learn new words in a different language.

  • Explore the content to find a new tradition, holiday, or food from a culture different from your own. Help your kids learn more about people and customs from that culture through videos, books, online research, or local communities in your hometown.
