Quiz challenges are a great opportunity for family fun, but hard-to-answer questions may make family trivia night more frustrating than rewarding. Fiete Quiztime starts with a great premise: Get the family together for some friendly competition on kid-friendly trivia topics. Kids can challenge themselves to beat their own top score, or compete against friends and family. It's nice to be able to choose a topic, though questions do have a pesky tendency to repeat themselves over multiple sessions. The included topics, though somewhat quirky (knights?), are high-interest and the developers promise more to come in the future. Unfortunately, not all questions in the topic areas fit the theme. For instance, the knights category includes questions about "first nations," which has nothing to do with knights. Some phrasing is awkward and confusing, and, most frustrating of all, many questions require such specific knowledge that most kids -- and many adults -- will be totally stumped ("Where did the tyrannosaurus live?"). Also, some other weird quirks (random and incorrectly used quotation marks, the app sometimes quitting) make the premise more solid than the current version. Since it's free to try, it's worth checking back down the road to see if some bugs have been resolved.
