Is It Any Good?
GEOMETRY WARS: TOUCH brings the popular arcade game (originally on the Xbox) to iOS devices, with the same neon-on-black graphics and fast-paced action. There are several modes to unlock, from a three-minute countdown, to "Pacifism" in which you can only move but cannot shoot, to "King" in which you can only shoot from within certain zones that disappear after a short time. There is a multiplayer mode if you are within range of other iOS devices using Bluetooth. The game is challenging and gorgeous to look at.
However, on a small screen, the game can be frustrating to play, because your thumbs obscure a good portion of the display and you can't always see enemies coming. Also, it's easy for your thumbs to slip out of position, so guiding your ship through the hordes of enemies can be quite difficult. Overall, it's a good game, but it was designed for physical controller; the touchscreen is harder to use.
