Grammar Fix
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's It About?
GRAMMAR FIX is a collection of lessons covering 10 different challenges in the English language. They are all common word-based mistakes, such as "you're vs. your" and "then vs. than." Each section provides a few examples and then quizzes the user with six fill-in-the-blanks sentences. You must get all six questions right before moving on to the next section. You can always replay a lesson, but the questions don't change. When all 10 sections are complete, the app offers up an external link to a page of "bonus" tips for writing and speaking.
Is It Any Good?
This is the perfect quick refresher for those who have long forgotten essentials such as the difference between "e.g." and "i.e." but it's fairly limited. Grammar Fix isn't quite as lofty as the title suggests; if your grammar is in need of mending, this little app isn't going to save the day. But it does have some simple reminders for common blunders people make and it delivers them in a straightforward manner that doesn't obscure learning with too much flash. It would be better if it offered more than six examples, especially for those who want to go through it more than once. On the other hand, it's free and it gets the job done.
