Anyone familiar with Mercer Mayer's Little Critter books will have an idea of what to expect from JUST GRANDMA AND ME. As the Little Critter takes a trip to the beach with his grandma, his narration of the day's events and the accompanying illustrations make for a cute story. The voice-over is well-done and there are also beach sounds (which can be turned off) to help set the mood. Tapping on objects in the pictures makes the app say and display the words, and there's also a mini-game to look for the little spider and grasshopper hidden throughout the pages.

The app is a good translation of the book—not too many bells and whistles to distract from the story, and the interface is hidden but functions just right.
