What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that KAMI RETRO is an intriguing puzzle game in which players set up objects in each level to guide characters between the designated start and finish points, making sure all the obstacles are avoided and there are no snags in the setup -- kind of like setting up the trap in the board game Mouse Trap. The game has a retro aesthetic to it, meaning the graphics are a throwback to classic video games from the 1980s. Although the game requires some strategic thinking and spatial recognition, it isn't incredibly difficult and should be accessible to young players and old players alike. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.

Is It Any Good?
KAMI RETRO is a fun, unique, intriguing puzzle game that really gives players' brains a workout but without being overly difficult or frustrating. Each of the puzzles is incredibly intuitive and most of them just require players to try different setups a few times until they get it right. In addition to setting up the various trampolines and platforms, players also have to actively control some of the character movements as they otherwise autonomously walk through the level. This mix of strategy and real-time gameplay control is a unique experience and makes it a rather fun romp. There are only a handful of levels in the game and the graphics may become a bit too distracting after a while, but all in all most players will find this a worthwhile app purchase.
