A lot or a little?

The parents' guide to what's in this app.

Ease of Play

This game uses an easy-to-understand touch-based control system. The object is to send a crazy customized vehicle into the sky, perform aerial stunts, and guide it through rings floating in mid-air. Any sort of specific objective takes a backseat to the fun of customizing the vehicle and making it stay airborne as long as possible.

Violence & Scariness

When Kick Buttowski crashes, he flips, rolls, flails his arms, and lands on the road, apparently not seriously hurt.

Sexy Stuff

Aside from the play-on-words of the phrase "Kick Butt" in the title, there is no questionable language in this game.

The game features the title character from a Disney XD show, and includes prompts to watch the show on Saturdays. The game also includes embedded advertisements.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Kick Buttowski: Loco Launcho, despite having a somewhat edgy aesthetic, is accessible for all audiences and is in fact tailored more toward younger players. The game, based on the Disney XD show Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil and also appearing on the Disney XD site, lets players unleash their inner Evil Knievel as they send wacky-looking vehicles off a huge ramp. The goal is to keep the vehicle in the air as long as possible while also doing stunts and gliding through floating rings. Players collect "Wow Points" for performing stunts and aim to get the highest score possible, and then use those points to  purchase upgrades. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.

Is it any good?

KICK BUTTOWSKI: LOCO LAUNCHO, as its name suggests, is a bit "loco." The craziness is in the vehicle that players can customize with all manner of wings, jet packs, and passenger carriers, and then send the ludicrous transport into the stratosphere. Accompanied with the various stunts and objects randomly floating in the sky are bright explosions, exciting sound effects, and a seemingly never-ending tally of bonus points. It is a fun game that puts the emphasis on racking up a high score rather than any sort of specific progression of levels.
