Is It Any Good?
LITTLE SKY WRITERS teaches kids to form upper- and lowercase letters by having them guide an airplane around the display in accordance with onscreen cues. A deep-voiced narrator names each letter, pronounces the sounds it makes, provides examples of words that begin with it, and occasionally adds a little joke. He also bestows praise at certain points in the game. Kids can choose the color of their plane, set the difficulty level, and select specific letters to practice, while parents can connect the app to their Facebook accounts and publish a message announcing that their kids have successfully worked their way through the alphabet once they complete all upper- and lowercase letters.
The junior kindergartener who tested it for us worked her way through all of the letters quickly and proclaimed the app to be “good,” but noted she wasn’t particularly interested in trying it again.
