A lot or a little?

The parents' guide to what's in this app.

Educational Value

In addition to prompting from the narrator to brush teeth in the morning and take a bath at night, kids have the chance to reinforce their own self-care routines by having Miffy perform similar activities. Miffy is also polite to her parents and helps out around the house.

Ease of Play

Some kids may have trouble moving Miffy around the app. It requires tapping where you want her to go, and it's easy to hit hot spots by accident.

There are links to the publisher's other games from the settings menu. They are blocked by a simple parent gate that requires swiping two fingers up, down, left, or right.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Miffy's World is semi-open environment for kids to explore with Miffy the bunny and her family and is based on a TV show. Kids are encouraged, but not required, to take part in self-care activities such as brushing their teeth and taking a bath. With all that's going on, parents may want to note that Miffy's mom never seems to leave the kitchen. Navigating Miffy's World might be an issue for some kids because sometimes it's difficult to avoid tapping hot spots. The settings menu is present in every scene; it looks like a "pause" symbol, which kids may find confusing or inviting. There are links to the developer's other apps from the settings, but there's a parent gate that requires swiping up, down, left, or right with two fingers to move on. There's nothing for kids to read, but families can choose from among six languages for the narrator. Read the developer's privacy policy for details on how your (or your kids') information is collected, used, and shared and any choices you may have in the matter, and note that privacy policies and terms of service frequently change.

Same hilarious but in-your-face, edgy humor as TV show.

Parents need to know that the movie breaks no new ground content-wise (except for showing Bart's tush and penis). The same hilarious -- but intentionally i... Continue reading

What's it about?

When kids wake up Miffy the bunny in MIFFY'S WORLD, she immediately jumps up and makes her bed. Once she's done, kids can help her get dressed, brush her teeth, use the potty, and then have some fun. She can bake a cake with her mom, play with her toys, garden with her dad, read a book, or play with her puppy, Snuffy. Every day, Miffy gets a present from her Uncle Pilot that can help kids extend their play within the app, such as a ball for Snuffy or seeds for the garden. Once she has done a few activities, the sun sets, and it's time for a bath and bed before a new day begins. The experience is partially narrated to help kids understand what's going on and to encourage them to take part in certain activities at certain times, such as brushing teeth in the morning.

Is it any good?

This friendly bunny play space has plenty for kids to do, but it's marred by mediocre controls. Miffy's World gives kids the chance to act out the favorite parts of their own day or imagine new ways to play based on Miffy's life. The gifts from Uncle Pilot keep things interesting and encourage kids to try new activities within the app. Strangely, Miffy's parents never speak, and some kids might wonder why. Since it's a slow-paced experience, it might not be an ideal fit for everyone. But kids who like pretend play and exploring with some freedom will likely enjoy hanging out with Miffy.
