What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Millie Was Here, Book 1: Meet Millie is a free download of a short interactive book designed to introduce kids to Millie, the loveable little dog who stars in the new Millie Was Here series of app books. In addition to the usual modes that let kids read out loud or follow along with a narrator, there's a third "bedtime mode" that creates a more subdued experience for nighttime reading by lowering the sound level, skipping games, and dimming the screen.

Is It Any Good?
MILLIE WAS HERE, BOOK 1: MEET MILLIE is simply a story about a darn cute puppy, presented in a unique art style that combines drawings with real-life photos and video clips of a real dog as Millie. The app presents a tongue-in-cheek look at Millie and her "superpowers," such as the ability to disappear into thin air (by crawling under a blanket), and dress up in hilarious disguises. Kids can interact with the pages through onscreen buttons and pull-tabs, and there are games to play and hidden stickers to collect, too. The story is short and sweet, but this free download serves as a great introduction to the rest of the series, which will send Millie out on more exciting adventures.
