What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this MONOPOLY for iPad app is a faithful (but far more colorful and animated) rendition of the classic board game. It has a great tutorial for teaching the rules to newcomers and can be played by up to four people on the same iPad. It can also be played with opponents on different devices via WiFi, but all players must be in the same WiFi network. There is also a compatible version of MONOPOLY that is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but this iPad version is easier to use.

Is it any good?

MONOPOLY FOR iPAD does a fantastic job of translating this quintessential classic board game into an easy tap-controlled app game. The whimsical animations are crisp and lovely, the tutorial mode is nicely in-depth, and the app offers the much-appreciated ability to re-arrange the rules to suit your personal whims (for ages, everybody's always been playing Monopoly at home by their own "house rules"). This Monopoly works very nicely as a "huddle game," with four players around the same iPad, but being able to play with a friend who has the app on their iPhone is a great option as well.
