What’s It About?
PEPI WONDER WORLD is a digital platform that encourages kids to use their imagination to play with the various characters and objects in two fantasy islands, Dragon Mountain and King's Castle. The interactive app offers little ones over 60 characters to play with, including gnomes, fairies, knights, and dragons. It also offers a variety of different sounds and animations, such as playing a flute, riding a horse, picking and eating oranges, jumping, and mixing juice flavors. Using drag, drop, and tap motions, kids can move characters and activate animation. The ship at the island's harbor allows players to take characters and objects across islands. The app offers a multi-touch feature so that kids can play simultaneously with grown-ups or friends. In addition to pictures that lead kids to the islands, the home page also has a button on the right bottom corner that takes users to a list of other apps created by the developer. Kids can browse the list of apps, but the link to the app store is protected by an addition/subtraction parent wall. The home page also has a "for parents" tab, also protected by an addition/subtraction wall, where grown-ups can read hints, an explanation of how to navigate the islands and how to access and add game characters, and ideas for how parents can promote education through gameplay. It also has a link to Pepi Play's Instagram page, where parents can see posts related to Pepi Wonder World and other apps by the developer.
Is It Any Good?
The colorful, inviting, open-ended play will captivate kids' curiosity and promote creativity while providing families with a platform for storytelling, building vocabulary, and exploring language. Kids can control every character and almost every object that appears on the screen, empowering them to explore options and giving them full control of the game. It incorporates enough options to keep little ones interested without the design feeling busy. Different characters pop up in the options depending on which island kids visit. Because it's full of little secrets and surprises, kids will feel like they're discovering something new each time they play.
Pepi Wonder World is a fun digital platform that allows players to use their imagination and openly play within the fantasy-themed world. It's especially handy when families are on the go and other traditional toys are not handy. Although the app doesn't replace the experience of real-life play, it's a useful and convenient tool, especially when thinking about its educational value. Families can use the app to create scenarios, tell stories, and practice oral language. Because it uses familiar fairy tale imagery, kids will have a jumping-off point for storytelling. Families who want more ideas about how to leverage the app's educational component will find the "for parents" tab and Instagram page useful. Although Pepi Wonder World is fun when played independently, the app is best when played with a grown-up or friend who can listen to kids' stories and ask them questions. The multi-touch feature is super awesome and really lends itself to playing with others and acting things out. Although it's slight, little ones will be exposed to the developer's attempt to promote other apps if they click on the "new app" button.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about action words and descriptive words that help make stories more interesting and vivid when playing Pepi Wonder World. It's also a great way to build language, vocabulary, and oral storytelling skills. How is the gnome moving? Is it jumping, walking, running? Is it moving quickly, creeping slowly, or moving ferociously?
When kids are creating scenarios or telling stories, ask them what happened first. What happened next? What happened last? Exposure to this type of language and thinking introduces little ones to sequence of events and organizing their ideas.
