What's It About?

PES 2017 - PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER lets players live their dream as Messi or any of the superstars with clubs including FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC, Borussia Dortmund, and more. The focus of this latest installment is on a more lifelike control scheme, and the company has overhauled (and simplified) the controls to achieve that. Players compete against either computer-controlled or live opponents and can leap into tournaments and clubs while managing their club by adding and trading players.

Soccer games have a mixed history on mobile devices, but few have owned the pitch like this title. PES 2017 - Pro Evolution Soccer has tight controls and fast action and can be learned quickly, making it one of the most welcoming soccer titles in years. Regardless of whether you're playing a human or AI opponent, you'll be challenged, but not dominated (a credit to the game's matchmaking system). And games are kept short, letting people hop in and hop out as they please. The game also doesn't ram in-app purchases down players' throats, letting them decide if they'd rather just play for fun or spend some money and compete against much more advanced challengers. If you're a fan of the Beautiful Game, this is a great choice.

  • Families can talk about whether athletes are good role models. Does the player on screen live a life you'd want to emulate? Why, or why not?

  • Talk about how the game compares to real soccer games. Are kids and their friends able to replicate some of the feats they see in games?
