What's It About?
From the main screen in PRESCHOOL ALL IN ONE BASIC SKILLS SPACE LEARNING ADVENTURE A TO Z BY ABBY MONKEY KIDS CLUBHOUSE GAMES, kids tap on a subject and activity type. There are six game categories: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers 0-10, numbers 1-100, colors, and shapes. Each automatically presents up to six types of activities, such as match the target, connect the dots following alphabetical or numerical order, or a memory game. Or, choose from six tracing activities, also divided based on subject matter. Trace each item three times, with increasingly less guidance.
Is It Any Good?
Kids get a thorough introduction to preschool basics in this collection of predictable mini-games. Preschool All In One Basic Skills Space Learning Adventure A to Z by Abby Monkey Kids Clubhouse Games hits the requirements for an accessible, friendly learning-themed app for young kids. There are no consequences for wrong moves, kids have all the time they need to find the correct response, it's easy to play, and instructions are clearly explained. The topics are what you'd expect: numbers, shapes, colors, and letters. And the presentation is colorful, with kid-friendly graphics. All these basics are done well. There are a few nice touches, like the tracing exercise that slowly takes away tracing guides. Overall, this app doesn't excite: The learning is rote, the games get repetitive, and the app isn't particularly inventive, creative, or unique. Despite that, this is a decent option for adding some fun to drills on basic preschool learning themes.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the learning themes included in Preschool All In One Basic Skills Space Learning Adventure A to Z by Abby Monkey Kids Clubhouse Games. Point out the numbers, letters, shapes, and colors that surround you in your everyday life.
Drawing letters and numbers by tracing on a screen with one finger requires very different motor control than writing on paper. Give kids plenty of opportunities to practice with paper and a marker (or other writing instrument).
Talk to your kid about your family's use of screen time in balance with other activities -- even for educational games.
