Is It Any Good?
Project Aqua can keep your child entertained while using their creative muscles to come up with new ideas. It offers a lot of fun ways for kids to experiment with their art, though sometimes the digital renderings are not fully descriptive of what's pictured. The tools are pretty intuitive, and the app doesn't push ads or in-app purchases, which makes it a relaxed space for creative play. Kids who enjoy exploring different effects like virtual galleries, AI enhancements, and 3D/AR art will likely get a lot out of it, though it isn't likely to replace the urge to make physical art. The app isn't designed for competition or structured art lessons, as it's more about open-ended exploration. If your child could benefit from open creativity and art play, rather than rigid goals or rewards, this app is a strong choice.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about AI awareness: Use this app as a chance to discuss how AI works: It can change or enhance images, but it doesn't replace human creativity or skill. Consider trying some family activities around AI to get them thinking critically about the use of AI in their lives.
Using the camera thoughtfully: If they use the photo or augmented reality features, remind kids to be aware of what's in the background and avoid taking pictures of inappropriate subjects.
