What's It About?

SLICE FRACTIONS is a series of 90 leveled puzzlers that require kids to strategically slice and drop parts of a whole. There are three main stages of learning, and each stage has several puzzlers that increase in difficulty and cover different skills. In the first stage, kids learn how to split groups and shapes into equal shares, that shapes can be compared to a common whole, and that upper symbols (which represent numerators) count equal parts. In the second stage, kids learn how to read fractions and interpret a numerator and denominator. The third stage helps kids learn how to order fractions, make equivalent fractions, and subtract fractions from 1. Kids earn silly hats for the mammoth and badges of achievement as they complete stages on each level. There's no penalty for getting a puzzler wrong the first time, so kids can keep trying until they succeed, and if they get stuck after three tries, a hint appears to help them along.

Figuring out how to strategically slice and drop pieces of ice and lava is not only great fun, it's highly addictive. The developers have done a great job putting a unique twist on the popular slicing-game theme. Incorporating fractions is an incredibly clever way to teach kids important math concepts, and kids most certainly will enjoy helping the adorable mammoth make its journey across the landscape. Occasional hints are provided if kids get stuck and make more than three attempts to solve a puzzler, so kids won't be challenged beyond frustration.
