A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this app.
Ease of Play
Tangram Pro is easy to navigate and responsive to play. The shapes in Tangram Pro are easily rotated and moved, and they snap into place on the screen. Some other tangram games show the outline of shapes for younger players, but this one does not. There is also no help feature in case you get stuck.
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Tangram Pro is a beautifully executed collection of tangram puzzles for Android phones. Tangrams are a set of seven shapes cut from a single square. To solve the puzzles, the tangram shapes must be rotated and arranged to make new designs, such as people, animals, buildings, and other everyday objects. Tangram Pro does not offer outlines of the shape for younger kids, nor does it have hints for help; so this collection it best played by older rather than younger kids. The puzzles in the menu change color once completed, making it easy to track progress through the entire collection of puzzles. Tangram Pro also includes six "skins" which allow you to customize the pattern in the background and on the pieces.
Is It Any Good?
TANGRAM PRO includes 300 tangram puzzles, which is more than enough to keep a single person occupied for quite some time. If the app is only used by one player they can track their progress through the puzzles, but it doesn't support multiple profiles. Without an easier mode (with shape outlines) or a help option, this app is better suited for patient/persistent older kids or adults who like puzzles. Overall, it's a nice value and the individual puzzles are quick enough to kill some time in line.
Did we miss something on diversity?
Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.
