What parents need to know

Ease of play

The Tap Tap mobile game series has become very popular because of its accessible with intuitive gameplay, and this version is no exception. Players tap on moving icons in time to the beat of each song; the more accurate they are, the more points they earn. The game is more about having fun and enjoying the music, making the actual gameplay mechanic seem almost second-nature. While it takes a skilled and experienced player to earn the highest scores, practically anyone can easily pick up this game and enjoy the experience.

Violence
Not applicable
Sex

Some sexually suggestive lyrics, such as the song Teenage Dream, which includes the line "Let's go all the way tonight, no regrets."

Language

Some of the songs in this game include light swear words like "damn" and "hell." In addition, there are a few lyrics that contain sexually suggestive innuendo and references to alcohol.

Consumerism

This is an app based on the popular TV series Glee. It could be seen as promoting that show. It also promotes Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, as players can watch behind-the-scenes videos from the movie.

Drinking, drugs, & smoking

Some songs make reference to alcohol. For example, the song My Cup has the phrase "When I need some water, baby, coffee or gin."

Privacy & safety

Minor privacy concerns. Players can opt in to Apple’s Game Center to track scores and achievements, and for some games, challenge friends. With Game Center, players can send and receive friend requests using an email address or Game Center nickname, revealing the first and last name associated with each party’s Apple ID and, in the case of email requests, the sender’s email address.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Tap Tap Glee is the latest in a series of popular mobile games in which the player taps the screen in time to the music. This version of Tap Tap rhythm game features songs from the popular TV show Glee. The songs are generally packed with energy, though some of them contain brief instances of cursing, suggestive innuendo, and references to alcohol. Note that the "free" game only comes with a handful of songs; players are required to purchase additional tunes from the show in order to play them in the game, which are sold in groups of two. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.

QUALITY

TAP TAP GLEE is a must-own game for any and all fans of the Glee TV show (or, as they're more popularly known, "Gleeks.") The ease and accessibility that has made the Tap Tap franchise so successful shines here, making it a great casual title for anyone to pick up and play. Even those without a great sense of technical music skills can easily get the hang of tapping the notes as they appear on the screen. It adds a fun, interactive element to songs that are already a lot of fun to listen to, and should be a welcome addition to anyone whose mobile device is already filled with Glee MP3 tracks.
