I used this app when I was 16, when I didn't have a phone because my parents didn't allow me to have one.The ads at the side of the message box were a little annoying but didn't stop me from using the app. I could text my friends using their phone number, and I didn't ever receive messages from Pedophiles or creeps who are randomly texting kids. If I wanted my friends to text me, I would give them my Textfree phone number and I would receive their texts through my laptop. It worked great and I loved it. I do think that kids 12 and up should use it because kids younger than that could potentially give out their TextFree phone number to anyone and everyone, not realizing the dangers. Overall I think its a great app, and that parents should decide whether their kids are mature enough to use the app.

My family has received life threathening messages, reported to authoritis. I have contacted pinger over 7 days ago with no reply. Very dissapointed in customer service.

Its great that my 10 yr old daughter can text me, but she started getting random msgs from people/men with very inappropriate things. One msg talked about drugs and another msg from someone else talked about fu*$king c*@ts. Anyway, point is, we've tried many different text apps, and they are all the same, anyone can txt you. Can someone invent an app where only your contacts can msg you, please!

What's to stop creepers from texting my kid? I found messages from a multiple phone numbers linked to text-free they aren't appropriate conversations and my kid doesn't know these people in real life...

This app is the greatest app ever. I think that it is so good because my son Jake can text me when he finishes his music lessons. He can talk to his friends and its all free
