Educational Value

Totally Tangled wasn't created with educational intent, and we don't recommend it for learning.

Ease of Play

The overall app is easy to use and the main activity -- the sliding puzzle -- has three difficulty ratings. There is an additional hint feature, which numbers the sliding puzzle tiles to help you figure out their order. And there's an option that shows you what the finished puzzle looks like, in case you've forgotten.

Violence & Scariness
Sexy Stuff

This app is all about selling you on the Tangled movie, including a movie trailer. Still, if your family enjoys the movie, this may be a nice way to keep some of the fun going.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Totally Tangled is a promotional app for the Disney film Tangled. The app has three activities: a sliding puzzle game, a photo activity, and a movie trailer. The sliding puzzle game is the type where a picture is scrambled and the player must slide the pieces to get back to the original photo. There are nine pictures, and users can select from 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5 puzzles. The photo activity allows users to take a photo (if your device has a camera) or select a photo from the photo album. The chameleon from the movie, Pascal, walks across the picture and poses. Users can save a version of the photo with him posed on it. The movie trailer is just a standard trailer from the film.

What's it about?

Totally Tangled is a promotional tool for the Disney movie Tangled. Kids can watch a trailer for the movie' play Pascal's Photos, which takes a picture of the player and has the chameleon character Pascal interact with the picture; or solve a tiled puzzle of a picture of characters in the movie. The puzzle offers hints but is quite challenging, especially for the age of a player interested in the movie.

Is it any good?

TOTALLY TANGLED is a beautiful app with some cute activities. The meat of the app is really in the sliding puzzle, so that should be a large factor in deciding if it's the right app for your family. As far as free apps go, this is great quality and certainly worth checking out if you're OK with the movie tie-in.
