What's the Story?

As BRING ME YOUR MIDNIGHT begins, 19-year-old Tana Fairchild is living with her parents on the Witchery, an island that's home to a coven of witches who practice low magic. It's a quiet type of magic that keeps them from being seen as a threat by the people who live on the mainland. Tana's engaged to Landon, the son of the mainland's governor, and their marriage will create an alliance that will end generations of fear and uncertainty for her coven. But all that's in jeopardy when Tana befriends a mysterious boy named Wolfe, who tells Tana he belongs to the island's Old Coven, which Tana has been told no longer exists. That coven practices what Wolfe calls high magic, which Tana believes to be dark and dangerous. With his encouragement, Tana begins to use powers she never knew she possessed and starts to question everything about her life. Has she been practicing the wrong kind of magic? Is her true destiny to be with Wolfe? At the island's Covenant Ball, Tana must publicly make her choice. Does she turn her back on her family, her coven's way of life, and possibly their future safety or does she follow her heart?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 1 ):
Kids say ( 1 ):

Intertwined with magic spells, a forbidden romance, and lots of secrets are serious messages about empowering girls and women and preserving the natural world. A love triangle drives the romantic storyline, and though the romance is swoony and satisfying, what's truly compelling is how Tana grows as a person as she navigates her decision between obligation and choosing the man (and life) she truly wants. While Bring Me Your Midnight is a fantasy, readers will find storylines they can easily relate to in real life: Living up to others' expectations for you, finding a first love, losing a best friend, and learning how to mend broken relationships. Romantasy lovers will find much to love in this smart, absorbing read.
