What's the Story?

EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW everything about the Lo family, stars of the hit reality TV show Lo and Behold. But if they did, they'd be shocked. Twins Honor and Atticus, older sisters, Skye and Jamison, and older brother, Wrangell grew up on the show. But now that it's ended, the toxic environment created by her parents' pursuit of celebrity is tearing the family apart. Her parents are determined to keep up the image of a happy family, but when her father announces he's separating from her mother and moving away, the family's "brand" is in real jeopardy. Her mother moves Honor and Atticus back to her hometown just before a magazine publishes a quote from Honor supplied by an anonymous source who can only be one of her two best friends. Honor finds it difficult to fit in at her new school. When she meets a Caden, a boy who's dealing with family drama of his own, she finds someone who may, if she can let her guard down, become a new friend and a first boyfriend. When Skye suddenly becomes ill, the family reunites to support her. But the reunion reveals a secret that could shatter forever the image people have of the family.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

This mix of secrets, betrayal, first love, and the dark side of celebrity is built around a family drama with both deeply flawed and inspiring characters. Everyone Wants to Know isn't a "curl up and be transported to a happy place" read. Spending time with the Lo family isn't easy, as all of them have been emotionally damaged by the years they spent on the show. But Honor's journey from a closed off and suspicious (rightly so) teen with anxiety and panic attacks to a young woman who's not afraid to stand up for herself is a journey worth taking.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the high price of celebrity in Everyone Wants to Know. What parts of the family drama seem directly caused by their celebrity? How do different family members deal with being famous?

  • Why do you think it takes so long for Honor to find the courage to speak up for herself?

  • Has a friend ever betrayed you by sharing something you told them in confidence? What happened? What can a friend who's broken your confidence do to try to make things right?
