What's the Story?
When ISAIAH DUNN SAVES THE DAY begins, Isaiah and his sister Charlie are doing much better than they were. Their mom has stopped drinking and started attending school. They're living with a kind neighbor instead of in a motel. Isaiah and his friend Angel have started a greeting card business. When Isaiah agrees to be a mentor for a younger kid, he stretches himself to build empathy for his mentee and better self-awareness.
Is It Any Good?
This energetic tale illustrates the power of self-esteem and compassion for others. The main character in Isaiah Dunn Saves the Day is true to the boy that author Kelly J. Baptist created in the previous book, Isaiah Dunn Is My Hero. The primary lesson is how to be there for another person: Listen to them to learn how to reach them, set a good example, and be patient. This is presented through believable situations and characters.
