What's the Story?
The wind causes chaos for the witch and her cat in ROOM ON THE BROOM. As they fly through the sky, the witch's hat blows away, and a friendly dog helps get it back, then joins her on the broom. The wind soon takes her bow, then she drops her wand. Each time, another animal joins the group, and every one of them is needed when a dragon decides to make the witch his next meal.
Is It Any Good?
This fun, lighthearted picture book is full of rhymes and engaging illustrations, and has a decidedly not spooky, very kind witch. Room on the Broom brings together a bunch of helpful animal friends, welcomed one by one to the broom, and has a sweet lesson about the ways friends can help each other out of tight spots. Full of expressive, goofy images, this delightful read-aloud story is great for Halloween season and year-round fun.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the witch's generosity in Room on the Broom. Why do you think she let each animal on her broom? What or who in your life would you make space for?
How does each animals help the witch on their own? How do they work together to save the witch from the dragon? When was a time that teamwork helped you solve a problem?
