What's the Story?
In TACOS TODAY: EL TORO & FRIENDS, the group of luchadores is ready for lunch, and each of them wants a different kind of taco. They decide to go to Taco Square, where there are all kinds of tacos to choose from -- but the group doesn't have enough money to buy them. The hungry friends come up with a great plan, one that the taco shop owners, the crowds, and the luchadores all enjoy.
Is It Any Good?
The seamless blend of English and Spanish is outstanding here within the story and dialogue, and is almost overshadowed by the action-packed, colorful drawings on every page. Tacos Today: El Toro & Friends is a fun, lighthearted graphic novel that captures young readers' eyes from the very first page. The wild costumes, funny names, and dedication to tacos is a delight to read, either alone or aloud to a group. Author Raúl the Third gives a ton of context clues to help readers understand a new language and sometimes shows the translation, but it's easy to follow the story without being a fluent reader in either language.
