Great Book

This is a great book about a baseball dad and son. The dad was so close to the major leagues but then he found out he wasn’t good enough and it really crushed his dreams. Now he is not supporting his son at all in order to protect him from the same heartbreak he had. PARENTS SHOULD KNOW There is a brief fight when the kid sees his father who never helps him with baseball at all helping another kid with batting practice, the dad drinks beer quite often whenever he is watching a baseball game, and there is a little bit of consumerism when they mention some brands such as Nike, Gatorade, and blockbuster. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Was it right for the dad to not help the kid at all to protect him from heartbreak? 2.if the dad doesn’t want his kid to have his heart broken by baseball then should he train him harder than ever? 3. Is there anything differently you would do if you were the dad?

Some People over 9. Dad is not a good role model.

The big field.... i used for a book report in 8th grade english, let me tell you it was a bore. I finshed it and thought it was someone okay. i love softball and baseball , day in and dayout, however the way that this book described the plays on the infield, outfield, and in the batters box were a dread. I sat there with a blank stare wondering what i was going to do the following period in the school. I wonder what went through with this guy, mike lupica when he decribes his sences to us as the reader? Other than the baseball aspect(which I was disipointed) the drama was wonderful. I did read another book by the author mike lupica and this boook was amazing , a total jaw dropper. However this one i was sad about knowing that mike lupica could do way better. so sad about this but i finshed it.
