What's the Story?
In the WAFFLES AND PANCAKE SERIES, two young cats use their imaginations during trips with their parents, turning day at the science museum (Waffles and Pancake: Planetary YUM) into a lively adventure, a plane flight to visit grandparents (Waffles and Pancake: Flight or Fright) into a creative story about airplanes, and much more. The cats scribble drawings, tell tall tales, and ask tons of questions about the Earth and outer space.
Is It Any Good?
With bright, engaging illustrations and fun dialogue that's great for young readers, these graphic novels have a surprising amount of academic content and emotional depth. The Waffles and Pancake Series treats kids' curiosity with care, letting the answers they make up get silly while the adults respond with facts and encouragement. That the parents live in separate houses is treated as a simple information without drama, and both parents help the kids get through moments when they're afraid by asking and answering questions.
