What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Petz Puppyz & Kittenz is a pet simulation game. Kids adopt puppies and kittens and learn how to care for them. This is not real life -- caring for a virtual puppy is significantly less work than the real thing -- but kids can start to understand that there's more to it than playing games. The game requires some reading, but most of it is in the form of directions. Once kids have been playing for a while, most of the text is non-essential for game play.

What’s It About?
PETZ PUPPYZ & KITTENZ is another cute pet simulation game. This one is set apart from most of the others in that you'll adopt one puppy and one kitten at the same time. You'll interact with both, including feeding, bathing, and playing games. You can adopt additional animals, but will always have one kitten and one puppy to interact with at any given time. The animals play with each other, and occasionally get into fights. In addition to the general care of the pets, there are toys that you can purchase for them to play with. You can also enjoy three games: a toy sorting game, a hot-and-cold seek-and-find game, and a musical pattern/memory game. The pets can level up in the games, resulting in a higher difficulty of game play. As the player levels up, the game unlocks new animal breeds, toys, and decor.
Is It Any Good?
Petz Puppyz & Kittenz is all furry and filled with cuteness. The kittens and puppies are cuter than their adult counterparts and pairing them up means double the snuggle factor. Kids will enjoy caring for their pets, but it's also just fun to watch them frolic and play on their own. It's also interesting to see the personality that each pet has, figure out its favorite foods, and see which toys appeal to it most. Although the game play isn't particularly deep, the unlockable content helps keep things fresh. It's an adorable addition to a DS library for kids who love animals.
