A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this game.
On top of being centered around community and teamwork, the game pushes forth an uplifting message of overcoming major odds no matter how huge they may seem.
Positive Role Models
The Trebhums themselves are always a tight-knit group and constantly work together as a unit to save not only their own kind, but also help other species from the evil forces working against them.
Ease of Play
It may take a while for players to get their bearings as there are many potential mutations to understand how to utilize to their fullest effects, as well as figuring out the game's ever-evolving mechanics.
Violence & Scariness
While there's a focus on survival from aggressive, wild creatures, there's only a mild amount of blood when some Trebhums are attacked, as well as violence mostly in the form of self-defense with various projectiles. The scope of the game can also be scary as there are always monsters that are bigger than you and will go after you if you get near them.

Sex, Romance & Nudity
There's a humanoid presence within the game that always has its rear end exposed, but there's no inappropriate context behind it.

Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that The Eternal Cylinder is a downloadable single-player survival game available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Players will take on the role of the Trebhums, a group of strange beings that must overcome a large, constantly moving Cylinder threatening to take out all living things. Along the way, players will encounter other creatures who mean to either eat or otherwise hurt the smaller Trebhums, leading to conflict that may cause very minor amounts of bloodshed. In this large, unforgiving landscape, self-defense in the form of various projectiles will be used, but no gore or excessive violence comes from it. Throughout the game, an antagonist appears as a large humanoid figure with a fully exposed rear end, but there's no sexual intent behind the character. As the game focuses on survival and beating ever-present odds, it may be challenging for players to adapt to the many potential Trebhum mutations and shifting game mechanics. But at the core of the experience is a tale about community, teamwork, and perseverance, with the Trebhums working together at all times to save the world from the Cylinder and its evil forces.
Is It Any Good?
This could've easily been a silly little game that entertains you for a while, challenges your gaming skills, and is simply "good" for the time you've played it. The Eternal Cylinder presents itself as exactly that at first – a wacky, simple survival game. But what becomes evident over the game's length is its depth and purpose. While it begins with you collecting other Trebhums to combat the titular Eternal Cylinder, you quickly discover mutations that add a little bit more to the survival element. Then you discover how those mutations work against the world and enemies around you, giving you the space to get creative when figuring out how your small beings can possibly survive the frigid cold, the hungry enemies, and the Cylinder itself. Additionally, there's a deeper story present that persists throughout the experience, enticing you to push forward when all seems lost.
That's the game's biggest strength above all else: its ability to take from the player the power they typically have from most video games, forcing them to think on their feet just to survive. It's likely that many Trebhums will perish in your ongoing fight against the Cylinder. You could get crushed, eaten, flung around, blindsided by dehydration or starvation, and otherwise made to feel weak in this oppressive, cruel world where very few things are smaller than you are. Whether it's increasing your stamina just to make it to the next set of towers – offering a brief window of protection against the Cylinder so you can regroup and strategize – or finding a new resource that offers a brand-new mutation, the moment-to-moment gameplay shines through and keeps you glued to the screen. There's always a disturbing sense of inevitability to battle against as it becomes clear that the Cylinder will never give you a reprieve. At the same time, your sheer force of will and refusal to give up is what will make this game unforgettable. As the Trebhums fight to preserve their species, you'll struggle, grow, and adapt along with them. Ultimately, you'll be able to shape your own destiny in The Eternal Cylinder and decide whether or not perseverance and teamwork can win the day despite overwhelming odds.
