What's the Story?

In 200% WOLF, Freddy Lupin (Ilai Swindells) returns as the heroic teen poodle who makes a wish to transform into a werewolf. The wish is granted, but it comes at great cost: the possible doom of the entire planet. Freddy and his dog friends must enlist the help of exiled villain/witch Max (Jennifer Saunders) to restore balance to the cosmos before the moon and Earth collide.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 1 ):
Kids say ( 2 ):

A somewhat "ruff" watch, this movie relies heavily on a cute sidekick to overshadow the fact that it's a meh sequel based on a poor original. Yes, 200% Wolf tries to redeem the 100% Wolf franchise by leaning further into clearly positive messaging for kids. But main character Freddy's irritating, overconfident personality hasn't really changed—and he still has selfish ambitions and makes poor decisions, which is likely to grate on adults' nerves (despite the movie's mercifully short runtime). The animation is pretty good, and the themes of acceptance, respect, and self-sacrifice are worthy, but it all gets buried in an unoriginal plot and confusing side stories.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the theme of respect in 200% Wolf. Why was Freddy so desperate to earn respect from his pack? What would/wouldn't make him a good pack leader? Do you agree with the movie's argument that respect is "who you are, not what you are"?

  • This film also focuses on overcoming fears. What's a fear that you have? Do you think you could overcome your fear like Batty did? Why, or why not?

  • Do you think that accepting yourself and gaining respect are related? Why, or why not?

  • Do you think you could have made the sacrifice that Freddy made to save his friend?
