What's the Story?
Inspired by a true story of the German rescue organization Jugend Rettet, 23 000 LIVES follows a group of young activists determined to stop the deaths of refugees attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea. What starts as a hopeful mission soon becomes a dangerous navigation through human rights, social justice, and personal sacrifice.
Is It Any Good?
A collision of humanitarian ideals and harsh realities, 23 000 Lives tells a compelling story of how a simple, noble mission of "saving lives" becomes a much more complex, uncomfortable voyage. In a battle of human responsibility versus legal/political authority, this drama doesn't shy away from asking the tough questions surrounding the audience's own morals, understanding of justice, and the complexities of refugee migration. This poignant and urgent call to action challenges viewers to ponder the value of a human life long after the film credits roll.
