What's the Story?
In ADIPURUSH, when the evil Raavan (Saif Ali Khan) abducts Janaki (Kriti Sanon), her husband, Raghav (Prabhas), undertakes a long journey to Lanka to fight him. Will Raghav, with the support of his army, be successful in his quest?
Is It Any Good?
This mythological action film is a disappointing adaptation of the famous Indian epic Ramayana. Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush has bland acting, poor visual effects, and silly action, making it rather boring for its lengthy duration (179 minutes). The complexities of the epic and its layers of storytelling are unfairly crammed into a one-dimensional plot that fails to emotionally impact the viewer in the slightest. What's more, Khan's portrayal of Raavan feels rather distasteful and disrespectful. Given the potential of such a vast budget and the wealth of story available from the original source material, Adipurush is a clumsy mess of a movie that fails to live up to its epic billing.
