A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this movie.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that All the Places is a 2023 Mexican comedy in which an estranged brother and sister reconnect on a motorcycle road trip after their father's death. Expect strong language throughout, including "f--k," which is used often. There's some binge drinking, including tequila shots on the night of the funeral, resulting in drunken behavior and riding around the village while drunk. After drinking too much wine, the sister meets a man in an outdoor restaurant and they go home together, where a recurring joke involves his obsession with tantric sex, which includes him interacting with an orb while passionately moaning. There's talk of sex, one-night stands, and cheating. The lead characters take mushrooms at a hippie festival and hallucinate. A skirmish breaks out between the main characters and some locals after a table tennis match, resulting in one of the characters' getting punched and ending up with a broken nose.

What's the Story?
In ALL THE PLACES, Gabo (Ana Serradilla) is concluding the funeral of her late father when her estranged brother Fernando (Mauricio Ochmann) shows up late. They haven't spoken in 15 years, and he now lives in Singapore, centered only on his career. After a less-than-friendly reunion, the two end up back at their parents' house, and Fernando tries to make amends. The two slowly warm up to each other again, aided by tequila shots and beer, and after a game of table tennis, they find a map taped underneath the table. The map is for a road trip on the motorcycles in the garage, starting from their hometown and ending up in Acapulco. Fernando convinces Gabo to take out the motorcycles, and the next day, they begin their journey. Through a series of adventures, the two must find a way to reconcile and learn about what's truly important.
Is It Any Good?
This is a sweet brother-and-sister road trip movie that manages to avoid too much sappy sentimentality. All the Places is in the tradition of other "road movies" where the buddies leave their old lives behind, learn about themselves and each other, and come back forever changed. It follows a familiar formula, but the likable characters and lovely scenery of the Mexican countryside and cities keep it enjoyable.
As siblings, there's terrific chemistry between actors Mauricio Ochmann and Ana Serradilla. There are moments that would be stupidly crass in a weaker movie that come across here as silly in a good way. There's nothing groundbreaking about this movie, but for what it is, it's entertaining, and the story remains focused and solid throughout.

Families can talk about road trip comedies like All the Places. How is this similar to and different from other movies where "buddies" hit the road, leave their old lives behind, and learn about themselves on the journey?
Were the drinking and drug use necessary for the story and a part of who the characters are, or did it seem gratuitous? Why?
What were the positive messages of the movie?
