What's the Story?

In BATMAN NINJA VS. YAKUZA LEAGUE, Batman (Joe Daniels) faces a new and formidable threat. Versions of the Justice League from an alternate universe are actually Yakuza supervillains instead of heroes. And their world is about to collide with Batman's if he and his allies don't do anything to stop them!

Is It Any Good?

This solid sequel doesn't quite match its predecessor. But with enough of the same team behind it, Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League is still a cool, fun, and explosively action-filled time. The animation and character designs are again top-notch, but the story falters here and there. While the first film benefited from novelty (a ninja version of Batman), a more focused story (Gorilla Grodd's time machine), and a better villain (the Joker), this sequel lacks these positives.

This second movie instead stretches itself too thin by trying to introduce too many ninja versions of Justice League heroes, with many of them barely getting any screen time. This "need" to represent too many characters also ends up making the story less focused. And lastly, this sequel suffers from a far less interesting and charismatic villain in Ra's al Ghul, who isn't very thrilling or terrifying compared to the Joker. But there are plenty of fantastic action sequences, fight moves, and heroics on display to help viewers forget about these shortcomings.
