Bheemla Nayak
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
BHEEMLA NAYAK tells the story of an egoistic feud between two men. Daniel Shekar (Rana Daggubati) is the son of a politician and an entitled ex-army man, while Bheemla Nayak (Pawan Kalyan) is a principled police sub-inspector who detains Shekar on account of him smuggling liquor across the state border. What begins as a petty squabble grows large once reputations, families, bureaucratic procedures, and violence gets involved.
Is It Any Good?
This action-packed Indian thriller directed by Saagar K Chandra is a chaotic bloodbath of competing toxic masculinities. Bheemla Nayak celebrates honor and reveres its central character's extreme violence as a benevolent act of protection. The film does raise questions regarding corruption and how it can infest law enforcement. However, its main focus remains the baseless feud between its central characters, Nayak and Shekar. Female characters do vocalize their discomfort with the patriarchal structure that suffocates them, but they remain suppressed. Women only contribute to the plot when abducted or in need of being "saved" by the male heroes. The degree of incessant violence, blood, and gore displayed throughout the film's trajectory makes it monotonous, repetitive, and unsuitable for children and younger teens.
