Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2, Reet (Kiara Advani) and Ruhaan (Kartik Aaryan) are happy-go-lucky strangers who happen to cross paths. Their romantic rendezvous however, takes a sharp turn when they set foot in an ancestral property where the devious spirit of Manjulika (Tabu) is known to have been trapped for 18 long years.
Is It Any Good?
This horror-comedy directed by Anees Bazmee is a disappointing follow-up to the much-loved original film from 2007, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Even the talents of Tabu -- who plays a dual role -- aren't enough to save Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. In this standalone sequel, the ghostly spirit at the heart of the story is not even dignified with a decent backstory. All that is important about her is her witch-like appearance and her crooked feet. The jump scares are repetitive and the horror elements are too typical to draw interest. Advani and Aaryan's characters are petty and banal. Their romantic endeavors and big-hearted gestures come across as nothing more than self-obsession. While at the center of the film's climactic unravel is misogyny and baselessness, exposing its poor structure and vain attempt at storytelling.
