This crowdfunded indie film is a tense, exciting thriller that deals with extreme situations in a gripping and cinematic way. Shocking plot twists create genuine gasps and heart-racing moments, making Blue Ruin an easy recommendation for fans of this type of genre. Directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Rebel Ridge), the realistic violence might not suit the squeamish, but it serves the film's underlying message about how violence breeds violence and the stark difference between someone who has accepted grief and trauma versus someone whose life remains frozen in pursuit of revenge.
