Bluey's Big Play
What's the Story?
In BLUEY'S BIG PLAY, Bluey, Bingo, and their mom (voiced by Melanie Zanetti) and dad (David McCormack) are having a great time playing together. But when Dad gets tired and goes off to spend time on his phone, Bluey and Bingo hatch a plan to hide it from him so that he'll play with them for longer. Along the way, Mum also helps them to understand what being a good big and little sister looks like.
Is It Any Good?
World-class puppetry inspires awe, familiar characters (voiced by the regular series actors) delight kids, and musical interludes get everyone dancing to this energetic stage show. Bluey's Big Play does a great job of offering something different and magical but not stepping too far away from everything kids know and love about the animated TV show. Bluey's family are all portrayed by human-sized puppets, and Lucky's dad (Brad Elliott) also makes an appearance. In addition, there are birds that peck at the stage and fly out toward the audience, and a cute little leaf friend that helps Bingo in a sad moment. The camera pans out into the audience to show excitable faces and lots of wiggling along to the fun on stage. There are also humorous moments and great messages about what it means for Bluey to be a good big sister, and for Bingo to be a good little sister. Characters also learn the importance of family time and teamwork, as well as empathy, communication, and forgiveness—which leads to some touching moments between Bluey and Bingo, and for the adults too.
