Chickenhare, the half-hare, half-chicken adopted prince, may be the title character, but it's the stories of those around him that make this addition to the series such a rich and rewarding watch. Visually, the animal cast of Chickenhare and the Secret of the Groundhog—based on Chris Grine's graphic novel—use their individual traits to fun and funny effect. But beneath the gags, the care taken in balancing complex motivations—jealousy, possessiveness, even an entire culture's belief system—with a kid-friendly adventure makes this animated sequel a pleasure for the whole family.
