What's the Story?

DAMAGED follows the story of two detectives with tortured pasts: Dan Lawson (Samuel L. Jackson) and Glen Boyd (Gianni Capaldi). Their worlds collide when a horrific killing spree in Scotland seems to be connected to the pattern of a series of murders in Chicago five years earlier. The broken pair must team up along old friend Walker Bravo (Vincent Cassel) to put a stop to the sadistic killings before the next victim is claimed.

This serial killer crime thriller is "damaged" in more ways than one. While the idea of having "damaged" co-detectives as leads has potential, Damaged falls short in multiple areas, even with Samuel L. Jackson on board. The predictable storyline has the usual serial killer clichés, characters lack depth and relatability, and, frankly, it's short on thrills, with anticlimactic suspense and an even more anticlimactic ending. Maybe "damaged" is the perfect word to describe this movie.

  • Why do you think that stories about serial killers are often popular? How does this film compare to True Crime TV?

  • Is it possible for someone to be both a hero and a villain? Why, or why not?
