Death Whisperer 2
What's the Story?
In DEATH WHISPERER 2, Yak (Nadech Kugimiya) and Sarge Paphan continue to hunt down demon ghosts. Their white whale is the "woman in black" who took Yak's sister from him. But when the woman in black returns, will Yak and his family be ready?
Is It Any Good?
The main difference between the first film and this sequel is that the sequel deliberately chooses not to take itself seriously. This decision ends up liberating Death Whisperer 2 from seriousness and allows it to be a silly, gory, and hilariously fun time. This tone is established almost right away, as if to really be clear about what's to come. And most of it is playfully violent ridiculousness. Sure, it's too long at just under two hours, and there are a few issues like uneven performances and uneven pacing, but the package as a whole ends up delivering.
This bloody movie also smartly decides to really lean into the character of Yak, played by an incredibly charming Nadech Kugimiya. By recentering the story around Yak as the clear hero, viewers have someone to directly root for, rather than the victims of the first film (Yad, and the family as a whole). And thankfully, even their return in the denouement is only a setup for a fun surprise. By the end, the film slightly overstays its welcome, but there's enough gory creativity here to get most viewers to the finish line.
