What's the Story?

In DIE HART 2: DIE HARTER, Kevin Hart is a successful comedic actor who wants to continue following his dream of becoming an action star. While the first Die Hart film introduces a Hart working toward this dream, this time, Hart wants to go even further by agreeing to do a new kind of action film that will be made organically.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 1 ):

This sequel feels a bit forced. Too much of the humor in Die Hart 2: Die Harter depends on Kevin Hart simply being himself. While this alone isn't a bad thing, as Hart has made an arguably justifiable juggernaut of a career out of doing just that, it can't sustain an entire film. The film itself needs to have good bones, and the bones of this sequel are frail at best.

What makes for the story is a kind of thin pulling together of various elements that on paper often makes for a fun, wacky adventure, but here these elements don't come together, instead making a disparate, illogical, and incomplete mess. Many logical gaps, moments of absurdity, and unbelievable reactions to things don't help this film. What does John Cena's character have to do with the primary villain, if anything? How has no one mentioned how similar Hart's stunt double looks? Still, Hart clearly has his own kind of early Eddie Murphy-like virtuosity that can be genuinely entertaining, if put to good use.
