Unfortunately, the action, characters, villains, and story in this film are all quite generic. The main character in Get Fast comes across a bit stiff and wooden, supporting characters feel like thinly drawn stereotypes, and the action feels like 1980s television with some gory moments thrown in as an attempt to modernize what's going on. But that's just the problem: There's not much going on here. The film begins almost in the middle, and nothing is explained except for the fact that "the hero" has stolen money that different people all want to get ahold of. But one of the villains has kidnapped the hero's partner and friend, so he has to save him while fighting everyone who also wants the money.

Throwing in a few throwaway side characters, including a misused Lou Diamond Phillips, doesn't exactly make things better, as now it feels like there are more stock characters involved than necessary. In other words, the character design and development here are severely lacking. There's nothing unique, interesting, creative, or charismatic about these people. Lastly, add in laughable logical implausibles, like the hero inexplicably surviving a huge fall from a helicopter, villains simply not killing the heroes when they have clear chances to, or the hero escaping a dire situation too easily (the villains literally watch the hero grab the money, jump on a motorcycle, and drive off, and only then does the villain "boss" say, "What are you doing? Go after him!"
