What's the Story?

Small-town diner owner Cathy (Lacey Chabert) is still grieving the loss of her husband at the start of HOT FROSTY. Her friends are worried that she's not taking care of herself and that it's time for her to meet someone new. Instead, she flirts with a handsome snowman who then magically comes to life as "Jack" (Dustin Milligan). As she and Jack get closer while keeping local sheriff Hunter (Craig Robinson) off Jack's tail for various inadvertent crimes, their feelings for each other grow. But Jack is just a snowman, and he's at risk of melting away forever.

Is It Any Good?

Despite a suggestive title and marketing around star Milligan's muscular physique, this holiday romcom is more sweet than spicy. Some of the comedy in Hot Frosty melts like a snowman on a summer day, but some bits work, particularly scenes involving good cop Noah (Joe Lo Truglio). Milligan and Chabert have just enough chemistry to keep the implausible, hole-filled storyline afloat. Netflix's holiday romance cottage industry should prosper another year, with regular Chabert even dropping some inside jokes, including a reference to Netflix-invented royal kingdom Aldovia and a high school-related joke about her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan.
