Inheritance (2024)
What's the Story?
INHERITANCE tells the story of the few remaining relatives of the vastly wealthy and eccentric Uncle Wladyslaw (Jan Peszek), who recently passed away. Wladyslaw's niece Natalia (Joanna Trzepiecinska) and two nephews Dawid (Maciej Stuhr) and Karol (Mateusz Krol), along with their loved ones, meet on the road to his remote estate for the reading of the will. At the estate they discover that they will have to play a series of games to receive their inheritance. Along the way they'll have to solve fiendish puzzles, learn to cooperate, and thwart some nosy police detectives. Oh, and figure out whodunnit, too.
Is It Any Good?
This is a very quirky, and entertaining comedy murder mystery with oddball characters and genuine laughs. The acting is great, and the fabulous mansion setting provides lots of eye candy. Teens who can handle the strong language will relate to the 16- and 13-year-old characters who play critical parts solving the puzzles and the overall mystery. It follows a pretty conventional structure that murder mystery fans will be familiar with, but the plotting is tight, and the surprises and laughs along the way add intrigue and enjoyment.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the strong language in Inheritance. Is it too much? Is it realistic? Does it matter if it is?
What about the violence? Is it cartoonish and funny? Does that make it OK?
