Jingle Bell Heist
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Sophia (Olivia Holt) is an American born to British parents and living in London while her mother recuperates from a serious illness in JINGLE BELL HEIST. Nick (Connor Swindells) is a single dad living paycheck to paycheck trying to get ahead to save his relationship with his beloved daughter. When circumstances bring the two together, they craft a plan that will exact revenge for them both while also helping improve all of their lives. But can they pull it off?
Is It Any Good?
This heist-centered romance is fun but forgettable. Swindells and Holt have good chemistry in Jingle Bell Heist, and they make for appealing leads. Both are charismatic and play slightly eccentric and likeable characters. Sophia uses her congeniality to her benefit, so a scene where the plan rests on awkward Nick's schmoozing is amusing. Plot twists are not exactly predictable, but they're also revealed in such a way that they aren't as satisfying as the script seems to hope.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about what Nick and Sophia have in common in Jingle Bell Heist. Why are they both willing to risk prison to carry out a specific crime?
Does this film need to be set at Christmastime? What role does the holiday play in the story?
The film is set in London. In what ways, if any, would the story change if it were set elsewhere?
